With the recent news that Man City and PSG have failed new FFP rules, just wondering what people's thoughts are regarding potential punishments.

Do we think points deduction, transfer ban, or even exclusion from European Competition?

What do FIFA do? Fine them both!

Is it just me, or does that not just defeat the object? It's laughable really.

What are people's thoughts on the matter? Be interesting to hear from Paul and Geoff too, as they are obviously big City fans.

It'll be hard to get them excluded from European competition because people want to pay to see the likes of Ibra, Cavani, Silva, Yaya and co play. Fans of all teams want to see the best players in the world compete.  FIFA and UEFA know that and know that their tournaments get devalued if top players aren't there.

A points deduction is going to end in a similar place.

Transfer ban is probably the best way to impact teams like this.

Now call me cynical, but following on from PSG's purchase of David Luiz for 50m, yes 50m, is anyone else expecting a similar fee and Cavani appearing at Chelsea shortly?

Makes an absolute mockery of the FFP in different ways. PSG already been fined by FFP yet seem to be completely ignoring it. Both teams also seem to have come to an agreement to overinflate transfer fees so their income figures are a lot bigger than they should be.

Absolute joke.

I think it's the net spending on transfers that comes under the spotlight. To me, this will simply be an inflation of the Luiz fee, so that PSG aren't seen to be taking a big hit on Cavani.

I think the restriction of the European squads is a good move. But 21 is possibly too many. If they restricted the European squads to 18 for those in breach of the rules, it would make a real impact on that clubs league season at home as well as the uefa competition.

These rules were introduced to try and "disuade" clubs from spending money that they don't have, a sort of "protection" plan for badly run clubs. So how the hell does a £49million fine help achieve that ? and surely Man City especially don't need protecting from overspending. Bureaucracy gone mad I dread to think what sort of state our beloved football will be in down the line 20 years.

As a foot note I haven't really enjoyed what has happened at Man City over the last 5 or 6 years. I use to love spotting youngsters playing in the youths ( I use to visit more youth matches than first team games ) and watching them progress to the first team and then maybe the England team and maybe even World Cups, now we have very little of that. Don't get me wrong because at the end of the season it is good to know your team finished as League Champions but for me the heart has gone to be replaced by a results driven "industry" in which I am fast losing interest, even to the point that I am considering switching my allegances to a new club, so that I can recapture some of the things I once loved about the game of football. In recent interviews our chairman has stated again that youth will play a bigger part in the club's future, and there are some decent young englishmen in our current under18 team, so I will wait and see if that happens in the near future, but if it doesn't then I will look elsewhere for my "fix".

Follow The team that are brimming with young British talent that we've seen visibly improve before our eyes.

Young, hungry and proud to play for the shirt, plus we've got the Irish gerrard !!
