After watching Match of The Day 2 last night, it was suggested by a 'pundit' that Mr Didier Drogba might be the 2nd best player in the world behind Messi. What do you think guys?

I think 2nd is pushing it, although I do agree that on his day he is unplayable, and has too much in his locker for 99% of centre halves in the world.

I would say definite top 10, could easily be top 5. But 2nd????

It appears there is life in the old drog yet according to former players sat on a sofa.

Just wondered what others thought about Chelsea's main man?

P.S. Stu, we all know what you think about DD, so no need to repeat Wink

Being a season ticket holder at Chelsea but not a fan I have to say that when on his game the Drog is by far the best CF in the world. He's a beast and has great touch too. He's not the fastest, not the best in the air, not the strongest and doesn't have the best shooting but as a package he's fantastic. I prefer Eto'o or Villa as pure finishers but I'd never turn Drogba down.

Being a season ticket holder im well equipped to comment here, On is day he is unplayable and will batter defenders all day long and i would'nt swap him for anyone in the world but he tends to have games like he did at West ham last week where he did'nt get in to the gam then he gets frustrated and his attitude aint right and on days like that he aint worth having on the pitch, But luckily those days are very rare not just his goals but the amount he sets up and id also one of are best defenders form corners, for a big strong centre forward i wouldnt swap him for anyone in the world although Villa,Eto are clas they are more poachers where i think Drogba all round is class even though he moans a lot

Every Chelsea fan feels the same way about Drogba. On his day and when he plays with a smile on his face he is simply the best all round player of his type in the game, but when his head is not right and he starts whinging, moaning and diving he is just a waste of a shirt on the pitch.

Thankfully he seems to have matured and the poorer elements of his game are slowly being eradicated which allow his power, eye for goal, creativity, workrate and out and out skill to be appreciated.

hang on....i never said he was shit. i think he's quality. but at the time it was my view that his career was on the way down seeing that his previous two seasons had yielded only 13 league goals. of course, i was wrong and its good to see he proved me to be so with devastating effect.

lol Stu. There is wrong, and then there is 'REALLY WRONG'

I recall you calling him, Didier Drogshite, wasn't that it Stu?

To be fair, you did concentrate you view that he (and Owen I believe) were both over the hill and on the decline. Well one out of two ain't bad.

Those Wikipedia Stats, show he had one 'poor' season.

I think he's still the muts nuts, aka 'The Nightmare'

yes, though i meant that in the present tense at the time not as an opinion on him overall in his career. anyway in hindsight i was wrong and thats the end of it. 1 out of 2 isnt bad i guess! Razz

Point further proven (the other way this time) superb against the Arsenal yet again.

I was at Stamford Bridge yesterday and Drogba was immense. Not like Frank Lampard's arse but very good. Ran the Arsenal defence all over the place and also cleared every corner or freekick that came into his own box too. Best forward on the pitch and probably the best defender too.

As for the midfield Ramires is starting to look like a more skilful Essien which is a pretty depressing fact for the rest of the Prem. Really mobile, great touch, passing and tackles like Stuart Pearce did. As I say ......... glad my team doesn't play in the Prem.

As an Arsenal fan I can only say I can't stand Drogba due to the fact that he is immense against us and yesterday was again though a lot closer than i thought the game would be if am honest.

Ramires is a weird player in the sense that he looks like he should be pushed off the ball with ease but in fact that was far from the case and actually looked very very good.

Ramires was frustrating in my eyes brilliant at times then sloppily giving the ball away at others but i put this down to the adjusting of the English game and lack of the English language which will only get better

But for me the player of the day was John Obi Mikel, he was outstanding and has been every game so far dunno what they put in his food over the summer but he has been immense. drogs does what he does and we love him

Negative point for Chelsea at the weekend was JT not looking so great anymore. When it's lumped into the box he's fine, apart from that I'm not so sure. Luckily Alex is probably the Prem's most under-rated CB. Good defender and pretty quick too. Anyway not sure who can stop Gaz celebrating another double.

I was at the Bridge too on Sunday, and Iwas pleased to see Ramires playing so well. OK some of his passes were sloppy and he has not yet adjusted to the pace of the Premiership, also given the fact that he is being asked to play in an unfamiliar role on the the left of a 3 man midfield makes his adjustment harder.

When he was at at Benfica he played on the right side, and for Brazil he plays in a more central destructive and dynamic role, protectng the defence and launching play.

I was particularly impressed by his never say die attitude, will to work and a rew moments of utter brilliance.

Perhaps, maybe and hopefuly, we have our next Dennis Wise. Chelsea supporters on here will know exactly what I mean.
