Just read this and can't think of any reason it isn't true.....

Arsene is now the longest serving manager in the football league, but in the time since he last won a trophy, all other 91 league teams have changed their managers!!!!

Sorry Arsenal fans.

Would another manager have won them a trophy by now though?

I agree that managers are pushed too quickly these days but has Arsene stayed too long?

You don't get any cups for integrity. Chelsea prove that.

the financial restraints placed on him as manager means he cant compete for cups with the likes of Chelsea, Utd or City but he still gets great success for what has become a selling club atm and the gunner fans get to see a tremendous brand of football each week. personally I think he has been a roaring success. compare him to "flavour of the moment" manager Moyes, who has worked under similar constraints at everton and I think wenger comes out on top by a mile, yet the media are calling for wenger to go and moyes is the best thing since sliced bread. dont make sense to me.

True, very true.

Webber has made some phenomenal buys for very little money, especially early on.

Not convinced by Moyes to Utd either, fingers crossed eh Paul?

Quite happy with Moyes to be honest! Got earmarked by Fergie years ago. Jose was never gonna get the job whilst Sir Bobby is still breathing.

Arsene is a phenomenal manager, makes me shake my head in disbelief when he gets stick.

I like what Wenger does at Arsenal and the model for a self sustaining club is incredible. They also play great football. The one thing I have an issue with Wenger for is Pascal Cygan - that bloke was never a footballer, he wasn't even good at kicking people. For the Gooners sake let's hope financial fair play eventually gets in place.

Agree with rob.

Although He seems to have issues buying centre halves.

Cygan, Stepvanos or whatever his name was, djourou is up there with Darren Moore as one of the most out of his depth premiership defenders iv seen. I'm really not a fan of koscileny who blows hot and cold at best and Senderos split opinions during his stay there

The french / French/African market isn't exclusively his now and I think finding those little gems is that little bit harder even for him

Very good point on the market for new players. There a lot of other teams wise to that now.

Is winning trophies all that matters is the bigger question perhaps?

I mean...these teams like city, chelsea and now PSG are trophy hungry (more than any other) laregely due to the infractious nature of their owners whose mercilous personalities come to the fore from having such wealth - they just simply arn't used to being "the little guy". And that's what this really all boils down to - boys with toys syndrome.

The problem then is that this culture of management change at the wealthy owned clubs becomes indigenous with the rest of the game. One look at the championship in England I think serves as the biggest example of that - compare a club like Peterborough (which probably has the greatest stability of all recent championship clubs) to one like, Leicester or Blackburn. Blackburn changed managers...3 times this season? It's a joke tbh.

Too many clubs expect instant success from their return. Well, before thinking like this, and granted any weathy owner that makes a substantial investment will feel obligated to wanting a return on their investment. But that is not their right. Owning a club should be seen as making a long term stock market investment....the longer the investment then, generally, the greater the return if the right decisions are made in that building process.

Just look at Man United and Arsenal and...you might laugh...to a lesser extent Southampton and Crewe. Crewe have the best youth production output in the football league...why? 30 years with Dario Gradi building a culture at the club. The club rose to the championship in that time, and back to the fourth tier, but never did they lose the faith of their policy. If a team like Crewe, who are not even a medium sized vlub never mind a big club, can prove that theory, then every club above League One should blush with embarssment at their failure with such riches at their disposal.

On the last day of the season Crewe started with 11 youth products. Superb.
