Week 8 processing

I'm going to start the roundup with Newcastle and their strikers. Mark thinks they are not scoring enough and not playing well together, and it seems a few of you are also of that opinion, so I'll do it pretty in depth, that way it may give you all some pointers as to where you can tweak things.

Mark played 442 CAT this week as his first option, switching to 442 WHV if he is losing after an hour.

His personnel in attack were

Muntari RH Giovani Dos Santos TM Forlan CF Anderson DY and Kolarov LH

the first thing I notice is that he doesnt use two natural winghalves, one is a mostly a dynamo and one is mainly a fullback, and the CAT tactic does rely on having two good winghalves.

When I review these things I assume that the team will be playing another team of equal skills, not a lesser team.

Now both Kolarov and Muntari have the skills to play at winghalf but you have to look at who they were up against as well. They were up against

Heitinga at RB who is a CBAM and

urtis Davies at LB who is a CB

so in this case his two widemen were not up against known fullbacks. These types of matchups are crucial and do often decide the outcome of games b4 you even get to the strikers.

Marks widemen woul dhave got some good possession against United's fullbacks and as a result he did win the game, but in another game he may have been up against two better fullbacks with similar skills that were actually fullbacks and they might not do so well. This impacts your strikers.

before a game the system assigns a series of bonuses and handicaps to each player taking part along these lines...

each bonus is worth +x% of a skill

each handicap is worth -x% of a skill

language groups > 3 gives -30% handicap to each player

disruption to team personnel gives -10% for every change above 3

disruption to tactics gives -x% depending on players prof in the new tactic

lethargic away from home against poorer team -10% each player whose win bonus is not at superb

last seasons champions lethargic away from home and whose win bonus is not superb -10%

fired up at home against opponents in the top 3 +10%

fired up at home against leaders +10%

fired up at home against Champions +10%

all accumulative

What constitutes a language group Paul - nationality?

Win bonuses, of which there are 10 I think

each one on max gives +10% bonus

Debutant +50% bonus

New players team understanding less than 25% -60% handicap

New players TU less than 50% -30% handicap

less than 75% -10%

captains bonus +50%

player of the season bonus +50%

playing against previous club +50% bonus

this may explain why Roma usually struggle

playing out of position

-50% if not playing in any of hs preferred positions

-10% if playing in second, third or fourth PP
